Custom Pool Patio and Retaining Wall Rebuild
This project combined structural reconstruction with a custom pool patio installation on a property affected by high groundwater conditions. The work focused on long-term stability, drainage control, and a one-of-a-kind patio design that was ahead of its time.

Custom Pool Patio Installation
The pool patio was built using Unilock Beacon Hill Smooth presealed pavers. At the time of installation, this was a custom-order product that was not yet available on the open market, making this patio both exclusive and unique. The paver line became publicly available several years later.
To frame the patio, we installed a Unilock Copthorne Enduracolor paver border in Burgundy Red. An accent inlay strip made from Unilock Artline pavers was added to create flow and visual movement through the space.
Front Retaining Wall Reconstruction
We tore down the existing front retaining wall and rebuilt it from the ground up using a properly compacted gravel base and SS5 soil separation and stabilization fabric.
Due to wet clay soils on the property, the area required over-excavation before construction could begin. We amended the subgrade with compacted stone prior to installing the fabric and gravel base, ensuring proper drainage and long-term structural integrity for the new wall.
Granite Pool Coping
The pool coping was installed using Woodbury Grey granite with a natural rockface finish. To improve comfort and safety, we carefully ground down sharp edges while maintaining the stone’s natural appearance.
This coping provides a durable, timeless finish that complements the surrounding hardscape.
Lawn and Irrigation Repairs
After construction was complete, we repaired the lawn areas impacted during the project and restored the irrigation system. All irrigation components were adjusted and tested to ensure proper coverage and reliable operation moving forward.
Project Challenges and Solutions
This property presented ongoing challenges due to a high water table and constant groundwater presence. During construction, we actively pumped water from beneath the pool to allow work to continue safely and effectively.
As a permanent solution, an emergency groundwater pump was installed on site to manage excess moisture and protect the pool and surrounding hardscape long term.
